The College of Home Economics (CHE) stepped up ladders as developments were executed in their preparation for Level II Accreditation this August and also to suffice the growing needs of their students this academic year.
“We’re trying to purchase some modern equipment for the benefit of our students and we are sending faculties to seminars regarding acquisition of modern gadgets and equipments. In a couple of month p’wede nang i-centralized ang mga gamit,” said CHE Dean Cecil Pascual.
Part of the renovation process was the Php84, 475 worth of centralized laboratories for Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students which will be funded by the university.
As of now, construction is on-going for the Storeroom while requisition of laboratory utensils and equipment are still being processed.
Also, the Dean Pascual added that the Php30, 000 worth Housekeeping room, located at the 4th floor, is ready to be used this coming second semester and that materials for the said room are already prepared and they are now waiting for the completion of its construction which was funded by the college Parents-Teachers Association.
Moreover, Pascual said that BulSU Restaurant, managed by Nerissa Calara with the aid from CHE students, would soon serve BulSUans as it would be open to university public in the following months,“Siguro kapag naayos na [on-going repair with mainline, gas-pipe, etc.] and if given enough budget to buy equipments makakapag-open na kami.”
The restaurant was also funded by BulSU Administration with an estimated amount of Php400, 000 including the budget for repairs and procurement of equipment.
In addition, CHE library welcomes 50 titles of new reference books, comprising the library with 900 volumes, according to librarian Rosita Lalic. Also, two computer sets and a printer from the administration were added while new chairs and tables were donated by the Bank of the Philippines.
“Maganda, mas maayos na ngayon dito sa college namin at makikita mo na may improvements talaga pati sa classrooms. Lalo na ‘yong pag-centralized ng mga laboratories namin. Hindi na mahihirapan ‘yong mga estudyante at wala na ‘yong matagalang hiraman ng equipment sa kabilang room,” commented Mourinne Santos, an HRM student.
