Emphasizing the importance of science among BulSuans, the College of Science (CS) once again held its annual Science Consciousness Week via two-day event in the university, September 11-12.
According to CS Student Government Governor Kevin Albesa, the said event aims to promote awareness about the contribution of science in the growth and development of the country and also seeks to let BulSUans show their creativity through various activities held during the activity.
“Masasabi kong naging successful naman kasi tulad ng mga nakakaraang mga taon ay na-reach ang lahat ng expectations at lahat ng dapat gawin even if two days lang ‘yong allotted time kaya jam-packed,” said Albesa.
Thesis exposition presented by Biology and Engineering students, a quiz bee with the theme ‘Science, Technology and Innovation: Working Together for Growth and Development’ and a poster making contest with a theme ‘Unifying Science, Technology and Innovation through Environmental Management’ graced the two-day event.
In the Biology quiz bee, Jaime Aclon singlehandedly conquered the top spot even though his supposed partner did not showed up, sweeping the duo of Neptali Asuncion and Aileen Mendoza in 2nd place and Peter John Servilla and Richard Lapuz in 3rd place.
“Unexpected at nakaka-proud dahil ‘di ko talaga sineryoso ‘yong pagsali dito e, tapos kahit gano’n nanalo pa rin. Don’t get me wrong, ‘di naman talaga dapat ako sasali, na-trip-an lang naming magkakaibigan, naging serious lang lahat no’ng ‘di ako siputin ng partner ko,” narrated Aclon.
Meanwhile, Bryan Brase and Daniel Tunglapan’s tandem ousted Ian Carl Lacanlale and Mark Lawrence Malabanan from seizing the top spot making the latter 2nd best in Chemistry quiz bee. On the other hand, Christian Catindig and Cryrell Joe Mendoza landed on the 3rd spot.
In Physics, Efraim Gabayano and Jerameel Delos Reyes’ cooperation earned them the crown followed by Marc Lorbert Velasquez and Paolo John Sevilla on 2nd spot. Moreover, Michael Clark Capili and Paolo Garcia finished in 3rd place.
Furthermore, John Verlyn’s artistic skills have brought him to the top in poster making contest while Reymond Reyes ended in 2nd place.
“The teachers especially science professors play the major role sa mga students for their growth and development. Kung magagaling ang estudyante, it only means that magagaling ang mga guro nila especially sa mga konsepto ng science,” CS Dean Nora Tan ended.
Winners each received cash prizes and certificates in the said competitions.
