Broadsheet Issue Vol. XL No. 1

Bulacan State University (BulSU) President Mariano de Jesus stated that the ownership of the newly constructed Php3M-building near the 3rd gate remains undecided up to date.
Despite the insufficiency of classrooms, the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), College of Business
Administration (CBA) and College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) cleared the rumors regarding their alleged claims on the said building.
“Wala naman akong karapatan na manguha ng building ng may building. Kung bibigyan kami ng building salamat, kung hindi, salamat pa rin,” CCJE Dean Fiscal Amado Vicente said.
CBA Dean Helen Baesa stated that she is unaware of the issue and denied her claims on the building. Yet, according to her, before the construction, CSSP Dean Reynaldo Naguit promised her two rooms if the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) will get hold of the building.
Likewise, CAL Dean Victor Ramos told Pacesetter that De Jesus then promised him a room once the construction is done.
“According to President Mariano de Jesus, may isa kaming room do’n kapalit ng isang classroom na ginawang Multimedia Laboratory, pero ewan ko, mukhang naiba ‘ata ang plano,” Ramos stated.
However, Naguit believes that since their college is the nearest to the building, they must take over the administration of the controversial classrooms but he added that they are willing to share it with other colleges.
“Sa CSSP ‘yon, bagama’t CSSP ang nag-a-administer pero ang gumagamit niyan ay CBA and different colleges, and somebody must take care of the building at ‘yong mga building na ‘yan, CSSP ang nag-initiate na maitayo ‘yan, hiningi natin ang tulong ni President de Jesus,” Naguit explained.
But in contrast with their deans, students from the said colleges expressed their sides on which college should take over the new building.
“Sa amin [CCJE dapat mapunta] kasi tingnan mo, luging-lugi kami sa iba. Kumbaga napag-iiwanan [kami] kasi bago lang [ang CCJE]. Kaya nagkakaroon ng stigma na hindi maganda pumasok dito dahil una pa lang problema na ang kakulangan sa room. ‘Tsaka isa pa, napapatapon tuloy kami sa CON (College of Nursing),” Tristan Sampilo lamented, a Legal Management student.
On the contrary, Deniel Gonzales of CAL said that the decision must be fair, considering the population of each college and the needs of the students for additional classrooms to use.
Meanwhile, the two-storey building, which consisted of four air-conditioned classrooms, formally opened last June 28. De Jesus led the proposal of the project which was planned for more than 5 years to accommodate the growing number of students in BulSU. The graphing stage started on September 2011 and the actual construction of the structure began last April 2012.
