Proving their prowess with every spin and turn, the Bulacan State University (BulSU) Dancesport seized third and fourth spot in the ‘1st Isko You Think You Can Dance’ competition held at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, September 29.
Mary Joy Macapagal and John Christopher Dela Cruz bopped their way to Latin open two-dance category and ended third while Rosario Marie Peralta and Mark Jayson Lopez came up into a fourth finish.
On the other hand, BulSU’s prime shakers and movers stated that they could have done better if given ample time for trainings.
“Almost one whole week lang ‘yong naging preparations namin. Maganda naman ang naging resulta ng ginawa naming preparation but I believe na mas magiging maganda ung resulta no’n if we had a longer time to polish our routines,” stated Lopez.
Coach Anthony Antonio said that UP’s invitation serves as a training ground for the newbies Macapagal and Dela Cruz and is looking forward to more dance play-offs.
“Kasi ‘yong competition na ‘yon, it’s a basis if a school is going to compete for regional meet. Natuwa kami kasi sila, nakapasok sa third and fourth place, meaning we have new pairs competing for SCUAA (State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association Olympic meet), para tumibay ang dibdib, kasi they are new pairs kaya gusto ko sila mahasa,” said coach Antonio.
The 1st ‘Isko You Think You Can Dance’ battle features eight pairs from different universities. Two pairs suit up for UP, three jazzed up for La Consolacion University Philippines and Angeles University Foundation’s (AUF) single duo completed the roster.
AUF was hailed champions followed by UP.
