An increase in population means a demand for more rooms.
With the surge from 1402 to 1635, College of Science (CS) was forced to have its classes in make-shift rooms located at the second floor hallway of Federizo Hall, started June 17.
Temporary classrooms are positioned along the locker area and accreditation room of the hallway wherein seven classes of the College of Engineering and three classes of CS conducted classes on.
On the other hand, faculty members of the college extended the complaint due to the difficulty of conducting classes in hallways.
Another problem arises for the students from other departments and colleges who are passing by the hallway as the temporary rooms result into obstruction.
The delay in the construction of CS Annex whichhastwo rooms with the capacity of 50 students and will replace the Student’s Park was also a reason why CS decided to to conduct classes on corridors.
The construction of the CS annex started on the third week of June and is expected to be finished before August ends.
“We have to apologize kasi talagang wala pa [two rooms].
Meanwhile, Vice President for Academic Affairs Antonio del Rosario explained that the delay of the annex construction was caused by inevitable hindrances of the bidding process.
“Kasi maraming requirements ang gobyerno, ‘yon ang nakakabagal. Even if we do our best to facilitate it to finish as soon as possible, iyon ang nagiging problema [process],” Del Rosario explained.
At present, CS has 10 rooms placed in Federizo Hall and five at the Athlete's Quarter, Carpio and Roxas Hall.
In contrary with the problem, CS is now preparing for its level three accreditation this coming November and December.
