BulSUan charm and beauty reigned supreme.
This is embodied and proven by Bocaueña Merry Joyce Respicio, a sophomore Tourism Management student of Bulacan State University as she was crowned Binibini ng Bulacan 2012 held at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, September 13.
Outshining 25 candidates from different towns in Bulacan, 18-year old Respicio also managed to bag the ‘Best in Long Gown’ award despite of being a neophyte in beauty pageants.
“Sobrang proud kasi this only proves na maraming maipapakita ang Bocaue, na kaya din namin makipagsabayan sa ibang bayan dito sa Bulacan. Sobrang masaya and worth it lahat ng training. As a BulSUan, I am happy that I was able to somehow make my school proud,” Respicio exclaimed.
Jonalyn Ortega of Bustos snatched the Miss Photogenic award while Charmaine Matic of San Rafael reaped the Miss Friendship award. In addition, Marilao’s bet Agnes Mygelle Tolentino notched the Best in Swimwear award while Norzagaray’s Jan Helen Villanueva concluded as Best in Talent.
"We are very proud of what Merry Joyce Respicio achieved. Nagulat ako kasi we were not informed. I'm very proud that she is included in our college. Asset s'ya ng school in particular s'yempre ng College of Home Economics," expressed CHE Dean Cecilia Pascual.
Respicio received a trophy, sash and cash prize worth Php40, 000 for winning the crown. Also, she will represent the province in the Binibining Pilipinas 2012 competition.
Moreover, San Miguel’ pride Camille Carla Nazar will represent Bulacan in Miss World Philippines, Tolentino in Miss Earth Philippines, Matic in Miss Island Philippines and Paombong’s Sharina Rose Gabriel in Festival Queen.
This is the second time for Bocaue to win the coveted crown in the province.
