A supplementary manual was issued by Bulacan State University (BulSU) Office of Student Organizations (OSO) on July 30 to provide further explanation in the organization section in the student hand book for 107 recognized orgs.
Since the student handbook only supplies general guidelines pertaining to student organizations, the said OSO’s counterpart contains further specification of definition of terms, rights, general policies and guidelines and relevant information about the office that are ought to know by each org in the university.
“We’re doing this in the best interest, for the harmonious relationship of student organizations. We don’t want people to keep on guessing and guessing with regards policies. Baka mamaya kasi magkamali sila, ‘di pala nila alam bumabangga na sila sa rules and regulations ng school,” said OSO Director Joseph Roy Celestino.
Since OSO has no allotted fund in publishing this kind of project, the guidelines were dispensed to organization in the form of .pdf file through electronic mails.
“It will not be in book form pa but in pdf soft copies. Kasi unang una it will take a lot of fund para magpublish e wala namang allotted budget ang OSO sa mga gan’to. Tutal marami namang gumagamit ng digital platform, ‘yon na ang gagamitin natin,” Celestino added.
The planning stage of the said manual was a step by step process that took almost two years and was made possible through the help of different individuals such as the Executive Board of OSO and members of the different orgs.
Student manuals from various universities inspired and helped Celestino in constructing OSO’s own version that will benefit organizations in main and satellite campuses.
“Malaking advantage ang pagkakaroon ng [supplementary] manual dahil hindi lahat ng org leaders alam ang mga guidelines, rules and regulation etc. Hindi naman lahat nai-inform lalo na sa ibang campus so agree po ako sa pagkakaroon ng manual,” said Clare Sabayan, Society of Food Technology Students (SOFT) President, Sarmiento Campus.
