Pushing for sexual cleanliness among youth, the Extension Services Office (ESO) and Guidance Center conducted a symposium about contraceptives and pre-marital sex for Laboratory High School students at the Valencia Hall last September 20.
ESO Director and the symposium’s lecturer Dr. Restita Francisco noted that the use of condom is best for married couple only and emphasized that the youth should avoid engaging in pre-marital sex.
According to her, there is also a greater chance of catching Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, known as AIDS, through unprotected pre-marital sex.
Meanwhile, University Extension Coordinator Amelita Santos said that it is already normal for the youth to engage in relationship today but they must realize that relationships must bring out the best in them and not the other way around.
Kailangan pa ring pahalagahan nila ‘yong purity nila. [They must] refrain from doing it [pre-marital sex] because there is a right time to do it. Well, true, but love can always wait,” Santos said.
On the other hand, participants of the said symposium expressed their thoughts regarding the matter.
Meron kasing iba na masyadong aggressive pagdating do’n. Sana maawa sila sa magulang nila. Mag-aral muna sila,” said Gabriel Javier, II-Mahogany.
The said symposium was in coordination with the Rotary Club of Malolos and Innerwheel Club of Malolos.
