Strengthening the mother tongue of the Filipinos, College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Filipino Department organized a first ever tagalog medium Intercollegiate Debate as part of the Buwan ng Wika celebration held in Graceland Mall, September 14.
With the theme “Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng pagka-Filipino”, all the colleges in the university participated in the mother language debate.
Meanwhile, the College of Education (CoEd) prevailed in battling against the College of Nursing (CON) after an intense opinion exchange with the topic “K to 12, Solusyon ba sa Pagkakaroon ng Dekalidad na Edukasyon sa Pilipinas?”
The said colleges both displayed talents with the use of their reasoning ability to persuade the viewers. In the end, CoEd ruled over the competition through their analysis of the issue and effective strategies over their opponent.
Bilang unang experience ito sa amin, napakasaya kasi kami ‘yong nanalo at nakarating sa finals,” expressed Carmina Dafrosa, CoEd participant and the Best Speaker of the competition.
The winners received a trophy, certificate of participation and cash prizes.
