Another step forward.
To accommodate the growing number of students, Bulacan State University Main Campus extended its grounds to Paltao, Pulilan establishing an extension, established June 24.
Pulilan extension campus caters two classes of the College of Education (CoED)—the Bachelor of Science in Pre-school Education with 48 students and Bachelor in Technical Teaching Education (BTTE) major in Food Management with 21 enrollees.
The two courses, which are also offered in the Main Campus, were opened by CoED in the Pulilan Extension Campus to provide opportunity for education to the residents of Pulilan and nearby areas.
Meanwhile, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Antonio Del Rosario further explained that the campus in Pulilan is just an extension of the main campus and not a satellite campus like the Meneses, Sarmiento, Hagonoy and Bustos campuses.
“Sa satellite, lahat ng facilities, expenses, at management [ay] sa university galing lahat ‘yon. Kapag extension lang, ang atin lang doon ay teachers at salary, iyong facilities [ay] donated. Ang extension sa Pulilan parang may klase lang tayo doon and it’s a welcome development na rin dahil nga we were able to serve more students,” Del Rosario explained.
The building in Pulilan, which has four classrooms, a science and kitchen laboratory, and an office for administration, was formerly an elementary school, and was donated by Emma Castillo-Bajet, a businesswoman.
“We believe sa binibigay ng BulSU na quality education that is why we bring it here at saka time is running out on us, kasi dream talaga ng father ko na magkaroon ng college dito [Pulilan]. It is a long-time dream – quality education at affordable price,” Castillo-Bajet stated.
Del Rosario also said that if there will be an increase in demands for marketable courses offered by the university, the Pulilan extension will become a satellite campus.
“We’ll welcome applicants and it will be a good opportunity for us to serve the people of Bulacan and provide quality university education,” Del Rosario added.
Meanwhile, the students of Pulilan extension campus show sentiments for the opportunity of convenient education.
“Masaya kami kasi nabigyan pa ng chance ‘yong mga out-of-school youth o late na nakapag-aral na kagaya ko na pumasok sa malapit dito sa lugar namin. Sabihin na natin ‘yong ibang school, maganda na nga pero ‘yong tuition medyo may kamahalan tapos malayo pa pero dito maganda at kayang-kaya mapag-aral ang isang estudyante kahit isa lang sa pamilya ang nagtatrabaho,” said Noli Ventura of BTTE 1A.
