BulSUans proved their excellence once again .
Bulacan State University’s (BulSU) Philippine Science Consortium members earned the first place in its 6th Annual Student Research Congress held at University of Rizal System, Morong, Rizal, July 18-19.
After being defeated by Central Luzon State University last year, BulSU claimed the top spot this year with the aid of Edenielle Domingo from the College of Engineering (COE) who grabbed the first prize in Best Paper, Experimental category with her topic Android Security Tracking Application.
“‘Yong preparation kasi namin for the congress, medyo naging rough kasi hassle din kasi graduating na ‘ko. Sulit ‘yong pagod, puyat, pati ‘yong encouragement no’ng mga closest friends ko. Siguro ang naging edge namin is ‘yong clear presentation of the idea about the study, then full courage of defending the research,” shared Domingo.
Meanwhile, in the Non-Experimental category, Kanna Picoc and Cherielyn Regalado of College of Science (CS) also finished first when they presented their topic Development of Interactive Software on Probability Theory.
PSC Coordinator, Dr. Ciriaco Garcia explained that the participating state universities and colleges (SUC’s) must submit their research papers a month before the competition proper, and judges would select the best five among the entries. The selected studies then underwent a defense for the verification of their research topics.
“It benefits the part of the students in a way, na ‘yong kanilang exposure sa research ay naho-hone, and another thing, prestige na rin ng school. Instruction, research and extension. Do’n kami nagpu-focus sa research. So ito iyong pinaka-arm ng organization para naman magkaroon ng accomplishment or ma-fulfill ‘yong certain area na medyo kulang natin,” explained Garcia.
