After bracing renovation and expansion, Bulacan State University-Alumni Association Incorporated’s (BulSU-AAI) 3-storey building ‘The Nest’ is expected to be finished this coming December.
BulSU-AAI allocated Php3 million to fund the renovation and expansion started last May 2012 which was taken from the graduation fee, solicited cash and other donations.
“Iyong mga alumni, umaalis pero bumabalik din sa pugad. Pero kahit malaki ka na, babalik ka pa rin do’n sa home mo talaga,” said Alumni Affairs Director Ma. Theresa Reyes as the explanation behind the name of the building.
Food stalls and a coffee shop will be opened at the first floor of the multi-purpose building as an income-generating project to support the other programs of the association such as scholarship grants. Offices will be placed on the second floor while a function hall will be established at the third floor for renting to accommodate reunions and gatherings for alumni of BulSU.
“There is a special place for the alumni when they visit the school, it’s nice to see na when the alumni come back, makikita nilang may asenso sa school. Dahil among the SUCs (State Universities and Colleges), tayo ang magsisimula ng The Nest,” Reyes said.
Meanwhile, the administration allotted Php200, 000 as an additional budget for the construction of the office of the Director for Alumni Affairs in the same building.
“It [The Nest] is a very good project. It will be venue for alumni who will be visiting the university. If there will be projects, they can plan and implement it at the nest,” ended Vice President for External Affairs Cecilia Geronimo.
