One is enough but three is not too much for the College of Engineering as it once again proved its intellectual supremacy in the September 2012 Electrical Engineering (EE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) Licensure Examination placing three of its alumnus in the top 10.
After years of failing to enter the top 10 in the EE Licensure Exam, COE grad Arman Marcelino finally broke the record as he placed 6th with 89.90 percent average, outshining 2, 497 other examinees nationwide.
“I dreamed of it pero no expectations so, no disappointments. Basta minahal ko na rin ‘yong propesyon ko at pag-aaral no’n kaya in-enjoy ko ang pagre-review then sinamahan ko rin ng prayers kay Lord,” narrated Marcelino.
The 6th placer from BulSU then revealed that studying well and enough rest has led him to success. Moreover, BulSU got a passing rate of 60.38 percent, higher than the 53.24 percent national passing rate, having a total of 33 passers out of 53.
“Very proud ang College of Engineering at Department of Electrical Engineering, it is a quite long time since we have a top board passer in EE, that’s why we regain our confidence and parang na-rejuvenate ‘yong EE. Quizzer ‘yong nag-place kaya expected na ng department na makakasama siya,” said COE Dean Nicanor dela Rama.
On the other hand, alumni Raymark Villegas and Joseph Carlos maintained COE-ME’s record of consistent top placers as they spotted 6th and 9th places in the September 2012 ME Licensure Examination.
Villegas and Carlos bested 1, 089 other examinees nationwide having 93.15 and 92.80 percent averages, respectively. The 6th placer revealed that he was shocked when he learned his place because according to him, his review materials were insufficient, thus he was unable to do his best during the exam. He also related that the third part of the exam gave him and his fellow takers a hard time.
“The entire review was fun. I learned a lot from our instructors, although I had some regrets, after taking the exam. I realized that I lacked in review materials, and I thought I could have done better,” Villegas said.
On the contrary, Carlos said, “I’m very happy and thankful for passing the exam and I didn’t expect na makakasama ako sa top kasi nga ang daming magagaling na kumuha no’ng exam. So no’ng nakita ko ‘yong name ko sa top nine, mas nadagdagan pa ‘yong saya ko at hindi agad ako makapaniwala na nakasama ako.”
Furthermore, BulSU gained a passing rate of 70.51 percent, higher than the 69.86 percent national passing rate with a total of 55 board passers out of 78 examinees in ME.
“They bring again honor to our university. Sana ‘yong ngayong mga magte-take ng board exam, they concentrate on their academic on their 5th year and focus on their review and hopefully we will have a good passing percentage and board placers,” ended dela Rama.
