Even though first-timers, three Bulacan State University (BulSU) professors bag the three highest awards in the 4th International Conference on Convergence Technology (ICCT) held at Diamond Hotel, July 2-5.
Out of 17 BulSU delegates, the researches of Engineering professor Edward Joseph Castro, College of Science professor Richard Clemente and Vice President for Planning, Research and Extension Danilo Hilario grabbed the first, second, and third place, respectively.
“It's the first time that BulSU joined and ventured or co-organized this kind of event internationally, although I have participated nationally last year, but this is my first time to present a study internationally,” expressed Clemente.
Castro’s research ‘Potential of Multi-walled CNT yarn as field emitters for X-Ray application’, Clemente's ‘Traditional fermented vegetable products of Bulacan: Potential source of Probiotics', and Hilario's paper ‘Anti-bacterial soap from Nypa Fruiticans Wurmb(Sasa) Ethanolic leaf extract’ stood out among the 500 researches from various universities and colleges in the Philippines, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and other more countries.
"We are indeed happy and elated that BulSU is gaining grounds in national and even in international arena, in so far as research is concerned," explained Hilario.
Korea Convergence Society, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, The Korea Society of Digital Policy and Management, De La Salle University and BulSU organized ICCT for the purpose of providing innovative information and culture preservation to each member-country.
“Nakakatuwa kasi matatagpuan mo sa isang state university [BulSU] ‘yong gano’ng kalibre ng mga propesor [na magagaling] dito kaya nakaka-proud bilang isang BulSUan,” expressed Jean Bernacer, Business Administration in Management 2B.
Castro received Php 40,000 cash prize; on the other hand, Php 20,000 each was given to Clemente and Hilario. Aside from this, winners were also awarded certificate of recognition.
